Staying calm during life's storm

Posted Thursday, June 1, 2006

Greetings,

Well, it's been a month of major changes in my personal life with a move from California back to Minnesota. And if there is one constant that I can count on in my life: it would be CHANGE. Can you relate? Not only did I choose to move half way across the country; I also had an uncle pass over to the "other side," an aunt get in an auto accident, my brother-in-law's father also passed over, and then I had a brother that has had to be revived three times, and flown by helicopter to a specialty hospital the night of my uncle's wake. A majority of this crisis occurred in a matter of one single week, and that doesn't count other typical challenges that can arise while in a transitional period such as any move brings forth.

Now, how is it that in the midst of chaos and constant change, that so many of us are going through in our lives, can one maintain a peaceful balance, stay aligned with our highest path, and in the flow of life?

Ahhh, it's actually quite simple! And, it all starts with remembering that we are Spiritual Beings having a human experience. Just remembering this helps us to step back and become the observer and to step out of the emotional turbulence that this type of chaos can cause. I caught myself clearly viewing all of the turmoil going on around me as if it was a movie. It was so much easier to navigate the whole situation without being overcome with emotions. I knew that I could choose to react in any way that I decided to, and without the emotional rollercoaster going on within myself, it was such a breath of fresh air to feel and see how the hard work that I’ve done on my healing path most certainly is paying off!

Another important insight that I gained from this whole experience was that the time that I have invested in healing myself... has created a reserve of inner peace in my "peace-of-mind energy account" that I was able to draw upon. What a relief!!

The Peace-of-Mind Energy Reserve.

This is why I speak about "feeding your soul" in A Victim No More. Feeding your soul (reading spiritual materials, meditating, taking classes, doing the exercises, nurturing your body) and doing the work with the Author's Insights from my book, fuels your inner peace, serenity, and self-worth. It provides you with the positive reserve energy that you have build up and is then readily available at any point in time.

I know this reserve energy comes in handy in my life— as I was able to maintain a deep inner peace and sense of well-being amidst all of the sadness, stresses, other's fears, etc. over the past few weeks!

This valuable energy reserve came from PRACTICING the Author’s Insights that I teach in my book… in my own daily life. And, as with any technique that one practices over and over again...the ability to perform the technique becomes almost effortless in time. And, how very grateful I am that I've been able to realize this in my life. This is an example of VICTOR consciousness...rather than the old VICTIM consciousness.

In the past, it would have been very easy for me to get overwhelmed and sucked in to the high voltage emotional rollercoaster that can exist when so many various tragedies and trials arrive suddenly in one's life, especially all at once. I am so grateful that I had built that reserve.

What a delight to know that whatever comes your way: whether a minor disagreement with a family member or co-worker, or a challenge with your children or spouse or even a minor illness; you can view it as a wonderful opportunity to fine tune your reaction mode, when life throws the real tough challenges your way. You get the opportunity to practice using your tools and strengthen that reserve as you go.

Keep at it (keep practicing the tools) and your reserve will be right there for you to draw on when ever you really need it, and you no longer have to worry about running out of the positive energy that you need as your life continues in this school that we can "life."

Author’s Insights

Today, I draw from Insight 10 in my book. I am now Giving Myself Some Credit for the time and energy that I've invested in myself and clearly see how much I was able to help myself and others this past month, just by staying centered and peaceful. What a great way to do what Insight 14 teaches...and that is to CELEBRATE MY DIVINITY with each of you.

Have a blessed day!
Namaste,
Lori
